"Waiting" by William Chappell dated 1964. Two robust cats, one with a relaxed stare and one looking out at the viewer with a hypnotizing stare is the theme of the mid-century artwork. The canvas painting features the original wooden frame with gold tone accent. In the 1960s, Chappell produced and wrote the libretto for Violins of St Jacques (1966, Sadler's Wells), taught at the Opera centre of London and painted cat portraits much admired by his friends. Pair with "Looking" to create a wonderfully playful yet captivating wall gallery.

CONDITION

In fair to good condition. There are some chips in the frame, and two small nicks in the canvas.
