Scandinavian floor runner, 12 feet circa 1920

A rare sized vintage Scandinavian floor runner (or trasmatta) featuring a burgundy, green, purple, white, black, and blue squared stripe pattern circa 1920.

A combination of durability and simple elegance, these vintage rag rugs were made by Scandinavian farmers. During the winters, farmers filled their hours and supplemented their incomes by weaving these vibrantly colored rugs on home looms. On account of the size of a home loom, the rugs breadth approximately two feet, however the lengths vary from four feet up to the rare seventeen feet. The addition of a Scandinavian Rag Rug to a room provides warmth of spirit and a natural, down-to-earth splendor.

In great condition with wear consistent with age and use.
