This is a pair of vintage salt & pepper shakers dated 1935. In hand-written yellow paint, the wooden shakers read "From the 'Shepherd of the Hills' Country 1935." This places them as a tourist piece from the Ozarks region of Branson, MO. Fans of the 1907 book "Shepherd of the Hills" brought increased visitors to the region, and in the 1940s the original homestead featured in the book was opened to the public.
