From our Heritage Collection

This is an antique folk art spool table. Hand crafted by Ollie Irwine, a blind man, in 1935 for his grandma.

Wooden thread spools shape the legs and detail the frame of the dark wood table. The top opens with a lid linked to the base with a brass chain. The table perches on caster wheels. An inscription on inside lid dates and details the crafter.

The inscription on inside of top lid can be made out to read "Ollie Irwine 1935 / a blind man made this for grandma ... "
