This is a Swedish rag rug floor runner circa 1920. The long rug runner features a purple, pink, green, and blue op art pattern.
A combination of durability and simple elegance, these vintage rag rugs were made by Scandinavian farmers. During the winters, farmers filled their hours and supplemented their incomes by weaving these vibrantly colored rugs on home looms. On account of the size of a home loom, the rugs breadth approximately two feet, however the lengths vary from four feet up to the rare seventeen feet. The addition of a Scandinavian Rag Rug to a room provides warmth of spirit and a natural, down-to-earth splendor.
In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. There is a small rust spot on the backside.
