vintage W.H. Collins hem marker

A 1940s free-standing hem marker from W.H. Collins. The vintage sewing marker stands on a red cast iron base and features a wood measuring stick back. The piece was used by tailors to measure hemlines. A little glass bottle filled with chalk slides up and down the measuring stick, it is attached to a balloon top tube that is squeezed to release chalk and mark the hem.
