This is a brass ashtray by Michigan artist Miner "Mike" Keeler dated 1967. A philanthropist and supporter of the arts, Keeler's family founded the Keeler Brass Company in 1893, and which he ran from 1962-1979. The ashtray inspiration comes from the Hemingway novel "The Old Man and the Sea." It is a beautifully detailed and heavy casted brass tray.
