This 1983 Tygart River Pottery dinnerware set by West Virginia potter Kate Harward brings together fourteen handmade stoneware pieces in a warm speckled glaze with expressive brown botanical decoration. The hand-painted motifs shift from piece to piece across three large plates, three small plates, three bowls, three mugs, a creamer, and lidded sugar bowl, giving the full setting a beautiful rhythm when arranged together. Signed and dated, the set is a particularly complete example of Harward's early Tygart River Pottery and brings an earthy, graphic quality to a dining table or open kitchen shelving.
