Alan Jones studio pottery bowl, 1991

A vintage studio pottery bowl by Alan Jones, signed and dated 1991. The generous hand-thrown form is finished in a warm speckled cream glaze with freely painted cobalt blue flowers wrapping around the exterior. The contrast between the quiet, earthy glaze and expressive floral decoration gives the bowl an appealing folk quality, while its broad scale makes it beautiful filled with fruit on a kitchen table or displayed on open shelving.
