From our Heritage Collection
A sculptural example of early 20th-century American folk furniture, this 1935 spool-turned table features a lift-top compartment supported by an expressive framework of bobbin legs and spindle galleries.
The dark brown finish highlights the lively grain of the wood while the layered turning creates depth and rhythm throughout the base. A lower shelf adds another visual tier within the open structure.
Inside the lid is a handwritten inscription reading “Ollie Irwine 1935 / a blind man made this for grandma,” giving the piece a remarkable sense of story and personal history. Its compact scale gives the table strong decorative presence beside a chair, sofa, or bed.
