Details

This set of four antique nineteenth century pressback dining chairs features crest rails carved with heraldic griffins flanking a central cartouche. The expressive carving introduces a dramatic architectural element above woven cane seats and slender turned spindles. The warm wood tone and uncommon crest motif give the chairs a distinctive presence, reflecting the ornamental character favored in American furniture of the late Victorian period.

CONDITION

In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. General finish wear to the wood. One seat shows a small repair to the caning.
