This extraordinary antique horse-drawn wagon shaft has a striking architectural form and commanding vertical scale. The elongated wood shaft rises from a broad bowed base, joined by slender iron braces and original hand-worked hardware. Richly weathered wood and oxidized iron create a deeply textural surface, while the sweeping lines and graphic construction give the piece a powerful sculptural presence in an interior.
In good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. Heavy weathering to the wood with age cracks, splits and areas of wood loss; oxidation and surface rust to the iron. Please review all photographs for condition and detail. Sold for decorative use.
