This antique Thonet Austria bentwood chair dates to the late 19th to early 20th century, with a fluid open back formed from sweeping bentwood curves and a round wood seat impressed with a subtle floral design. Its warm aged finish highlights the sculptural lines of the frame, giving the chair an elegant Viennese profile for a dining table, desk, entryway, or occasional seating.
In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. The wood has an aged finish with surface wear, marks, scratches, and areas of finish loss. There is minor checking and surface loss along the bentwood back rail, as shown. The impressed seat design has softened with age. The original Thonet Austria mark remains visible beneath the seat.
