This late 19th century antique steamer trunk has a substantial form and richly patinated surface that give it exceptional presence in an interior. Elaborate iron strapping, brass hardware, and hand-painted stars, letters, and travel markings create a wonderfully graphic exterior. Its generous proportions work beautifully as a coffee table, at the foot of a bed, or as a statement storage piece in a living room or library.
In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. There is an old metal patch repair to the front. The front locking closures do not consistently stay closed, and one appears to have been refinished or replaced. The right leather handle is broken and partially missing. The interior lining shows general age and a tear.
