A mid 19th century American pine trunk with a traditional domed lid and original iron strapping. Hand-cut dovetail joinery and wide horizontal boards reflect early utilitarian construction. The pine has developed a warm, honeyed tone with areas of darker wear and faint stenciled lettering across the front panel. The interior retains its simple open storage form with early divider supports. Substantial and architectural in presence, it anchors a bedroom, hall, or living space with authentic early American character.
CONDITION
In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. Interior bracket reinforcements are present. There is wood loss to one side of the lid and to a back corner, reflecting its age and long history. The side handles are no longer present.
