Details

An antique woven splint hamper basket with a tall rectangular form, hinged woven lid and deep green trim against a timeworn cream-painted weave. The repeating diamond pattern gives the surface a wonderful graphic rhythm, while the restrained green and cream palette allows the basket to sit easily among antique woods, patterned textiles and more contemporary furnishings. Circa 1920s.

CONDITION

In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. The painted surface shows wear, paint loss and marks throughout, with age-related wear to the woven splints and wood framing.
