From our Heritage Collection
This late 19th-century Victorian side chair is distinguished by its tall, attenuated silhouette and delicate framework. Slender turned uprights rise to a shaped crest rail, framing an oval upholstered splat above the curved seat and finely turned stretchers. Pistachio green damask-like upholstery and ochre trim create a striking contrast against the dark, aged wood, with wear and fading adding another layer to its surface. The elongated proportions and beautifully worn materials give the chair the presence of a sculptural object.
CONDITION
In antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The wood frame is in good, sturdy condition with surface wear and finish loss throughout. The upholstery is heavily worn with tears, losses, staining, and deterioration to the fabric and trim, as shown in the photos.
