This vintage 1980s Chinese lidded basket combines woven bamboo with layers of Chinese newspaper and decorative printed paper. The rectangular form features aged typography, photographs, exposed bamboo weave, and a striking folk art panel of birds, flowers, and fruit. The varied paper surfaces and warm natural bamboo give the basket an expressive, almost collage-like quality that makes it as compelling as an object of decor as it is for storage.

CONDITION

In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. The papered surface shows general wear, discoloration, creasing, and areas of loss throughout. The exposed bamboo has natural age-related wear and variation.
