From our Heritage Collection
This exceptional pair of antique Windsor billiard chairs has a stately, beautifully balanced form, with sweeping continuous arms, tall bowed backs, and deeply shaped wood seats. Slender spindles and traditional wire braces bring a lightness to their generous proportions, while turned legs and broad footrests create a strong architectural base. The rich, near-black brown surface heightens the sculptural lines and handsome symmetry of the pair. Dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, their distinctive height and elegant proportions set them apart within the classic Windsor tradition.
CONDITION
In good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. There are scattered marks, rubbing, and areas of finish wear throughout, with more pronounced wear to the footrests. One arm has an old area of surface loss, and one chair has a split along the top crest, as shown in the photos. Remnants of a paper label remain, though the maker is no longer legible.
