A commanding set of four vintage Old Hickory armchairs pairing the organic lines of natural hickory with richly patterned brown and white hair-on-hide. The curved arms sweep continuously around the upholstered backs, creating a sculptural silhouette that is especially compelling viewed as a group. Across the four chairs, the individual hides shift from broad fields of warm caramel brown to graphic passages of cream and white, giving the set a beautifully varied rhythm.
The combination of rustic material, generous upholstery and enveloping form gives these chairs a presence that moves easily between country house, lodge and collected interiors. Each retains its Old Hickory, Shelbyville, Indiana brass maker’s plaque.
In good vintage condition with age-related wear. Hair-on-hide seats show areas of wear and hair loss, as pictured.
