vintage Satsuma style gilt phoenix vase

A mid-century Chinese porcelain vase richly decorated with phoenix birds, peonies and intricate floral borders in black, red, turquoise and warm orange against a densely patterned gilt ground. The tall baluster form is covered nearly edge to edge in Satsuma-style decoration, creating a richly layered piece for a mantel, console, library or dining room, where its warm palette and elaborate surface work especially well among antiques, textiles and contemporary art.

CONDITION

In good condition with wear consistent with age and use. There is loss to the decoration around the upper neck, along with areas of gilt and surface wear throughout.
